PANAJI: The North Goa District Mineral Foundation Trust (NGDMFT) held its 17th Governing Council meeting under the chairmanship of North Goa Collector Ankit Yadav, IAS, and approved new projects worth more than ₹6 crore aimed at supporting mining-affected communities.
The meeting, attended by Member Trustees, MLAs Premendra Shet and Dr Deviya Rane, Deputy Director of Mines and Member Secretary NGDMFT Ratnakant Govenker, and representatives of various government departments and project-proponent agencies, reviewed the progress of sanctioned projects worth over ₹15 crore.
The newly approved proposals include supplementary subsidies for rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana and support for farmers in mining-affected areas. The council also approved scholarships for Mining Engineering students at Goa Engineering College.
In the education sector, projects include smart classrooms and a Digital Learning Centre at Government Polytechnic, Bicholim. Healthcare-related approvals include the upgradation of the operation theatre and TruNat room at CHC Bicholim.
Other projects cleared by the council include an MRF shed for Sanquelim Municipal Council and a skill development training initiative.
The council also approved measures to streamline the DMF project sanctioning process to improve efficiency and ensure timely implementation. The Annual Report for 2025–26 was approved, while discussions were held on preparing the Perspective Plan and Annual Plan.
The meeting reaffirmed NGDMFT’s focus on the welfare and sustainable socio-economic development of communities affected by mining activities.
