PANAJI: The Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) will organise a State-level programme to mark World Food Safety Day on June 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Institute of Nursing Education, Bambolim. During the event, the Directorate will launch three major initiatives aimed at promoting food safety and healthy eating habits across Goa.
The three initiatives are the Nutrition Education Series, Eat Right Culinary Challenge, and Food Safety Training for Street Food Vendors.
Under the Nutrition Education Series, the FDA, in association with the Goa College of Home Science, will launch an official Forum of Nutrition Experts in Goa by bringing together certified nutrition professionals from across the State. These experts will serve as resource persons to conduct nutrition awareness workshops at government offices, schools, colleges, citizen groups and consumer forums.
The workshops will include sessions on basic nutrition, physical exercise and healthy lifestyle practices, along with training handouts, with the objective of dispelling myths about nutrition and encouraging regular physical activity.
The Eat Right Culinary Challenge aims to encourage both professional and novice chefs to innovate and prepare healthy dishes without compromising on taste or food safety. The initiative seeks to promote healthier cooking methods while maintaining a high-quality culinary experience for consumers.
The competition will be conducted through preliminary rounds at multiple locations, including outside Goa, followed by a grand finale in Goa on a later date to declare the winners.
The Directorate said the initiatives are intended to strengthen food safety awareness and foster healthier food choices among the public while promoting the principles of safe and nutritious eating.
