PANAJI: In a significant move to modernize and strengthen its operations, the Goa Police, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, has launched three transformative initiatives. These new measures are designed to boost the police force’s efficiency, enhance citizen engagement, and promote transparency in their services.
During a ceremony at the GOs Institute, GRP Camp, Altinho, Panaji, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant presided over the unveiling of these initiatives. A key highlight of the event was the promotion of 113 police personnel, which includes 45 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) elevated to Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs), 44 Head Constables (HCs) promoted to ASIs, and 24 Police Constables (PCs) promoted to HCs. This mass promotion is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the police personnel and is expected to significantly enhance the operational efficiency of the Goa Police.
One of the groundbreaking initiatives is the integration of the Bhashini App, an AI-driven language translation platform introduced by the Central Government. This app is designed to assist police personnel in communicating effectively with tourists who speak different Indian languages, thereby breaking down language barriers. The app has already been installed on 54 Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) in PCR vans, highway patrol vehicles, and the Pink Force, and over 2,648 police personnel have downloaded it to enhance their communication capabilities.
Another significant initiative is the introduction of a QR Code-based Feedback Mechanism. QR codes have been prominently displayed at police station receptions, notice boards, and other accessible areas, as well as on the Goa Police website. Citizens can access a secure feedback form by scanning the code with their smartphones, allowing them to provide real-time feedback on their experiences with the police. This mechanism enables citizens to describe their experiences, offer suggestions, and report issues, all of which are stored in a centralized database for regular analysis. This feedback will help identify areas requiring improvement and recognize high-performing police stations.
Under the leadership of DGP Goa, Alok Kumar, these initiatives mark a significant step towards modernizing policing in Goa. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant praised the Goa Police for their commitment to innovation and citizen-centric policing, emphasizing that these initiatives demonstrate the department’s dedication to fostering trust, improving efficiency, and creating a safer and more transparent environment for citizens and tourists alike.
These new initiatives are part of a broader effort to align with the state government’s vision for urban innovation and sustainable development, ensuring the safety and security of citizens while addressing operational challenges.
