PANAJI: The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) Annual Report 2025–26 was officially released by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant during the World Environment Day 2026 programme held in Panaji.
The annual report release formed the central highlight of the event themed “Inspired by Nature for Climate & Our Future”, showcasing the State’s environmental performance, regulatory progress, and ongoing sustainability initiatives.
Alongside the report launch, the event also witnessed the signing of an MoU between GSPCB, Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC), and Cacora ITI for introducing a Waste Management Technician course aimed at building skilled manpower in the environmental sector.
A book titled “गोव्याचे कृषिनायक” was also released on the occasion, and several farmers, environmental champions, industries, and winners of environment-related competitions were felicitated.
CM Sawant, in his address, highlighted major green initiatives under the “Green Goa, Clean Goa” mission, including the “Harit Goem, Ek Zaad Roi” programme inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. He announced that 10 lakh trees will be planted across the State between June 5 and September 5, creating a green corridor from Patradevi to Polem.
The Chief Minister also underlined that Goa, with around 68% green cover, 25 wetlands, and 168 water bodies, continues to remain one of India’s most ecologically significant regions. He reiterated the government’s focus on afforestation, khazan land restoration, waste management reforms, EV mobility, and sustainable development practices.
