PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today said that the High Court of Bombay at Goa should appoint an expert committee who will be taking care of the COVID management at the Goa Medical College.
Rane also demanded for an investigation as to why most of the deaths occur during 2 am to 6 am at GMC.
“Goa should appoint an expert committee who will be taking care of the COVID management at the Goa Medical College. Also an investigation needs to be conducted as to why most of the deaths occur during 2 am to 6 am at GMC.,” said Rane
He informed that 26 people died today during the same time frame at Goa Medical College.
“The state government has already appointed three nodal officers but we will have wait for their report as to what analysis they have done on the situation,” he added
The Health Minister also informed that GMC is currently over burdened and that the staff is working to save the lives of people.
“I shall ask the CM of where the mismanagement is happening at GMC, in my opinion someone is misguiding the Chief Minister,” Rane said
Meanwhile, Rane said that government of Goa has started Prophylaxis treatment for those above 18 years of age. Necessary instructions have been given for immediate implementation of the treatment.
“However, this does not prevent Covid-19 infection but helps in reducing the severity of the disease and at the same time one should not have a false sense of security and complacency but strictly take all the precautionary measures and follow laid SOP’s,” he said
