PANAJI: After the protest by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) a comedy show was cancelled by the Caculo Mall management in the city, scheduled on November 15.
The HJS had appealed to the North Goa Additional Collector Mamu Hage and Caculo Mall management to cancel the Comedy show of self-proclaimed comedian Munawar Faruqui which is to be held on 15th November at LVC Comedy Club, Panaji.

HJS delegation comprised Satyavijay Naik of HJS, Jayesh Thali of Gomantak Mandir Mahasangh, Sanjay Nayak, Bharat Hegde, Keshav Chodanker and Shushant Dalvi.
Earlier HJS’ delegation had met with North Goa Additional Collector Mrs. Mamu Hage and the Caculo Mall management to submit a memorandum. The HJS’ memorandum says, ‘Munawar Faruqui, a self-proclaimed comedian has a history of making derogatory remarks on Hindu Gods and Hindu culture and hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindu community!
“We are of strong view that Munawar Faruqui’s show will disturb communal harmony in the State of Goa, which may also result in law and order situation across the State of Goa. Hence, the HJS requests you to cancel this scheduled program,” HJS had said.
The controversial comedian Munawar Faruqui held a program at Indore (MP) where he passed derogatory remarks against Hindu God and Central Home minister Amit Shah.
After this program, he was arrested by police and was jailed for 37 days.
Also recently, Munawar Faruqui’s program at Mumbai was cancelled after Hindu organisations of Maharashtra objected to this program.’ As a result of this memorandum, the show has been cancelled in Goa as informed by the Mall management.
