VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council to raze off all the illegal stalls at the side of the national highway near Varunapuri junction in the Vasco municipal area.
MMC has decided to act strictly by removing the illegal stalls illegally set up by encroaching on the national highway near Varunapuri junction. Verna to Varunapuri stretch being a national highway, heavy vehicles with highspeed tend to move on this road. But surprisingly, several illegal kiosks have mushroomed at the roadside, which could threaten the lives of the people or commuters in case of vehicular mishaps.
One person from Vasco Peter said that there has to be a proper roundabout and enough space at Varunapuri junction to move high speeding vehicles. But it has been observed that people are standing on the roads to buy veggies and fruits from stalls obstructing the traffic movement. The municipality should clear these illegal fruit and vegetable stalls.
When contacted the MMC chief officer Jayant Tari, he informed that in past, twice such illegal stalls from this stretch of Varunapuri area were removed by the municipality but once again, it seems to have emerged.
He further said that he had also directed the Vasco police to register offences on such people illegally setting up stalls at the roadside. Now we will take strict action from our side and will raze off these stalls near Varunapuri junction, Tari added.
