MARGAO: The Konkan Railway has taken swift and stringent action against an unauthorized vendor found selling spoiled fruits onboard Train No. 12052 Madgaon Jn. – Mumbai CSMT Janshatabdi Express on May 31, 2026.
According to officials, the catering services on the train were being managed by IRCTC. During routine checks, an individual was detected engaging in unauthorized vending of spoiled fruits onboard the moving train without any valid authorization or identification. Immediate action was taken as per prescribed railway procedures, and a penalty was imposed on the offender.
Following the enforcement action, the individual was handed over to the Railway Protection Force, Ratnagiri unit, for further necessary legal proceedings.
In response to such incidents, Konkan Railway has launched a 15-day special enforcement drive jointly by its Commercial Department and the Railway Protection Force with effect from May 31, 2026. The drive aims to curb unauthorized vending, overcharging, and other irregular activities across stations and onboard trains in the Konkan Railway network.
Intensive inspections are being conducted across trains and stations to ensure compliance with railway rules, with strict action being taken against violators. The initiative also focuses on maintaining hygiene standards, food quality, passenger service integrity, cleanliness, and adherence to prescribed rates.
Passengers have been urged to report any cases of unauthorized vending or suspicious activities to railway authorities to enable prompt action and ensure a safe and comfortable travel experience.
