MORMUGAO: The workers of the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) started the New Year on a joyful note as they received their 7th Pay Commission salaries after a prolonged wait of eight years. The announcement brought immense relief to employees who had been facing financial uncertainties for years due to the council’s earlier financial struggles.
The MMC, which was once grappling with severe financial instability and delays in salary disbursements, has made a remarkable turnaround in recent years. To express their gratitude, MMC workers organized a felicitation ceremony on Monday. The event honored MMC Chairperson Girish Borker and Chief Officer Deepesh Priolkar for their efforts in addressing workers’ concerns and improving the council’s financial health.
During the function, several workers shared their appreciation for the leadership’s dedication to ensuring timely payments and resolving long-pending issues. Many expressed optimism as discussions are underway to regularize the services of temporary workers, further boosting morale among the workforce.
The council’s commitment to its employees and improved financial management has set a positive tone for the year ahead, leaving workers hopeful for continued progress and stability.
