PANAJI: The Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has informed that the District Magistrate, North Goa, has imposed a penalty of ₹20,000 on food business operators for manufacturing and selling sub-standard food products.
The penalty has been imposed on Shri Vipul Rathi (Manager), Shri Dinesh Kumar Rathi (Proprietor), M/s Sunrise Sweet and Sunrise Kajuwalla, Shop Nos. 8 and 9, Velho Trade Centre, Opposite Municipal Market, Panaji, Tiswadi, Goa, and M/s Sunrise Sweets, H.No. 535, Malim, Betim, Bardez.
According to the FDA, a sample of Mysore Pak collected from the establishment was found to contain Tartazine at 286.61 mg/kg, which exceeds the prescribed maximum permissible limit of 100 mg/kg under the specified standards.
Based on the findings, the District Magistrate, North Goa, imposed a penalty of ₹20,000 on the food business operators for selling the sub-standard food item.
