PORVORIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today informed the House that the right model will be selected to provide integrated facilities at South Goa District Hospital (SDGH) in the next 3-4 months.
The opposition cornered the government over its failure to implement various facilities at SDGH. The opposition also termed it as a referral hospital.
“A right model will be selected to provide integrated facilities at South Goa District Hospital (SDGH) in the next 3-4 months,” said Rane.
He further assured the House to set up a committee under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister to finalise the model for working of South Goa District Hospital and put things in place in the next 3 to 4 months.
Rane said that the government is taking one step at a time to put up the best medical facilities at the South Goa district hospital.
“The cardiac super speciality facility is getting ready at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim. We have ordered three cath labs for the super speciality,” he added.
Congress MLA Adv Carlos Ferreira raised the question of incomplete facilities at South Goa District Hospital.
“South Goa District Hospital is not strengthened, the GMC will continue to be burdened, SDGH has become a referral hospital” he added.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai said South Goa District Hospital has gone into a comma and may die at any time.
“South Goa District Hospital is in a comma; there is no 24*7 pharmacy, no cardiology unit, and many posts are vacant,” said Sardesai.
Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao said that the government has given one year of corruption, one year of unemployment, one year of Mhadei’s unresolved issue, and one year of the South Goa district hospital without a facility.
“This govt is only chai piya, samosa khaya, khana khaya aur answer sirf Svalp Svalp diya,’ he added.
AAP MLA Venzy Viegas said he inspected SGDH before the assembly session.
“The lifts are not functioning, ICU is locked, No MRI facilities, No full day Canteen, No Generic Pharmacy, No Neurology Department, No Pediatric ICU. SGDH has turned to a referral Hospital,” he added.
