New Delhi: The police custody of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan, has been extended by four more days. She was initially taken into custody on May 17 from Hisar and remanded to five days of police custody, which ended today.
A local court granted the extension after investigators requested more time to question her in connection with alleged intelligence leaks during Operation Sindoor, India’s recent counter-terror military response following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
According to sources, Malhotra is suspected of having shared sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence services, including details related to power outages that occurred during the military operation. Investigators claim she was in direct contact with an individual identified as Danish, a staff member at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi, who is believed to be an agent of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Officials have seized three mobile phones and a laptop belonging to Malhotra, which are currently undergoing forensic analysis. While no chat records were found after March, investigators confirmed that Malhotra had regular contact with Danish between 2023 and 2025.
Reports indicate that Malhotra admitted during interrogation that she maintained communication with Pakistani intelligence operatives. She reportedly first met Danish in 2023 when she visited the Pakistan High Commission to apply for a visa.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, with police treating the case as a serious breach of national security, particularly given the timing of the alleged information leak during a sensitive military operation.
