PANAJI: The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has stepped up efforts to strengthen rehabilitation and welfare support for individuals in vulnerable circumstances by bringing together government departments, law enforcement agencies and social organisations for a coordinated review meeting.
The meeting was chaired by CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate along with CCP Commissioner Clen Madeira and attended by representatives of Goa Police, Pink Force, the North Goa Collectorate, the Department of Social Welfare, the District Child Protection Unit, Child Helpline, Traffic Cell Panaji, El Shaddai, CCP and other stakeholders.
The discussions focused on assessing existing challenges, improving coordination among departments and identifying long-term solutions aimed at enhancing rehabilitation and support systems for those in need.
Speaking on the occasion, Rohit Monserrate said, “At the centre of this discussion were people and their wellbeing. While every circumstance is different, the shared objective remains the same—to ensure that those in need are met with understanding, care and opportunities that can help them move towards a more secure future.”
He further stressed the importance of community participation, stating, “Panjim has always drawn its strength from its people. It is this spirit of looking out for one another that continues to guide us in our efforts and reinforces the importance of ensuring that care, support and opportunity reach those who need them most.”
The meeting reviewed existing rehabilitation mechanisms and discussed measures to strengthen coordination between government agencies and social organisations to ensure timely intervention and sustained support for vulnerable individuals.
Officials agreed that a collaborative approach involving civic authorities, law enforcement and welfare organisations will be key to creating effective rehabilitation pathways and improving public wellbeing across the city.
