With poor response to the Central government’s ambitious PM-KISAN scheme, the State agriculture department has roped in Postal department to get 11,000 farmers registered under the scheme.
Under the scheme, the farmers get upto Rs 6,000 per year, in three installments, as minimum support.
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture Chandrakant Kavlekar said that there are total 21,000 registered farmers eligible for benefit under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana scheme.
“But till date, only 10,000 farmers have enrolled themselves. There are still 11,000 farmers who have not registered,” he said.
