PANAJI: Regular patrols will be carried out along the Tillari canal to keep an eye out for any seepage, according to Minister of Water Resources Subhash Shirodkar.
After a significant rupture in the Tillari Dam’s left main canal at Sateli Bhedshi, Bhomwadi, the canal was shut down for ten days. After the canal was fixed, water was eventually discharged in the direction of Goa on Monday afternoon.
Bicholim’s water supply will be restored Monday evening, and Porvorim and other places by Tuesday evening, according to the WRD Minister, who also stated that the Tillari Canal’s water supply has been restored in small amounts and will be expanded at night.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that he would shortly meet with Devendra Fadnavis, the chief minister of Maharashtra. The main goals of the meeting are to guarantee uninterrupted water supply and high-quality canal construction in Maharashtra.
Chief Minister Sawant, meantime, stated that he has taken the situation following the canal breach seriously and added that Goa has been experiencing erratic water delivery as a result of frequent issues on the Maharashtra side.
“To find a long-term solution for the Tillari canal upgrade, I will meet with the Maharashtra Chief Minister shortly to go over this matter in detail,” he stated.
According to the WRD Minister, he has instructed department workers to patrol the canal in order to keep an eye out for seepages or leaks.
According to him, the Tillari canal on the Maharashtra side is in bad shape, and our Chief Minister will speak with the Maharashtra chief minister about it shortly.
