Rudolf, son of former Minister late Victoria Fernandes, today joined the Congress party in presence of his supporters and well wishers.
Rudolf had contested the 2017 assembly elections from St Cruz as Independent candidate and had lost to then Congress and current BJP MLA Tony Fernandes.
While Congress president Girish Chodankar denied giving any assurance of ticket, Rudolf is confident to contest the upcoming 2022 elections on Congress ticket.
Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat was also present on the occasion.
Chodankar said that Rudolf’s entry has made party’s presence more strong in St Cruz.
However, he said, that the party cannot assure Rudolf, a ticket. “We are not like BJP that we assure party ticket while inducting someone. We have a procedure and the same would be followed,” Chodankar said.
He also express confident of winning 25-26 seats in the upcoming elections.
Chodankar also reiterated that party has closed door for all those who left.
Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat claimed that more and more people will join Congress in coming days. “The Congress party will get what it deserves,” he commented.
Kamat also said that Rudolf will help party in strengthening its base across State.
Rudolf said that he is confident to get party ticket in the upcoming elections. “I have joined congress with support of people. And when I have people support, I am confident to get ticket,” he said.
