VASCO: Goa Seamen Association of India (GSAI) today has written to M.P. Shripad Naik and Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) Chairman appealing their intervention through Central and State government to allot sanction atleast 10,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine for Goan Seafarers.
“There are numerous reasons for having our Goan Seafarers vaccinated on priority basis as otherwise we Goan Seafarers will end up losing our precious jobs as Shipping Companies have already started hiring Chinese, Indonesian & Bangladeshi Seafarers who have been vaccinated by their respective countries under the category of Key Worker,” said GSAI
GSAI further said that they have appealed to MPT Chairman wherein GSA has highlighted the numerous challenges that are presently being faced by Goan & Indian Seafarers and Indian Shipping due to second wave of COVID that has hit our nation badly.
“We humbly request and pray for your kind intervention that through the powers available within the jurisdiction of your ministry to kindly & urgently sanction COVID-19 vaccine for our Goan Seafarers. Our Goon Shipping Community shall always remain obliged to you,” GSAI added
