SHIRODA: All the seven members of Revolutionary Goans, arrested for disturbing Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant function at Shiroda, were released on bail.
CM Sawant was on a constituency tour of Shiroda as a countdown to the upcoming Goa Assembly elections scheduled for February 2022.
The seven youth members of the Revolutionary Goans, namely Shailesh Naik, Prajyot Gaonkar, Yogesh Naik and Elliot Godinho Sachin Gaude, Rahul Naik and Nicky Alemao, were arrested after they created unlawful assembly and for not allowing government officials to discharge their duty during the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant function at Shiroda.
Police had filed an FIR and were booked under Sections 143, 147, 149, 186, 353 and 509 of the IPC.
As per information, during the question and answer session of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant program, the 7 youth under the banner of Revolutionary Goans questioned the CM of jobs and other promises made were not satisfied with the answers they got due to which they staged a protest by shouting slogans ‘UZZO UZZO’. Soon after the rally, the Ponda Police detained all 7 youth.
The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) at Ponda, while granting bail to the seven, said the court did not feel there was any reason to keep the accused in custody. The seven were released from Jail late at nighT.
