PORVORIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has clarified that SSC students who were awarded ATKT or secured Grade ‘I’ or Grade ‘H’ in skill-based subjects in the March 2026 examination will have to reappear for the entire subject and will not be permitted to appear only for the practical component.
The clarification was issued after the Board received representations from several schools seeking permission for such students to appear exclusively for the practical examination of skill-based subjects.
In a circular addressed to the heads of affiliated schools, the Board stated that once a candidate’s result is finalized with Grade ‘I’ or Grade ‘H’ in any subject, the student is required to reappear in that subject during the ensuing examination and obtain the qualifying Grade ‘G’ in accordance with the prescribed rules.
The Board further clarified that the compensation scheme cannot be applied by combining a student’s performance from two separate examinations. Any compensation benefit, it said, will be considered only on the basis of performance in a single examination.
The circular also stated that students seeking grade improvement in skill-based subjects must appear for the entire subject, including the external or theory component, in one examination. Appearing only for the practical portion will not be permitted.
GBSHSE has directed all affiliated schools to communicate the clarification to students, parents, teachers and examination personnel and ensure strict compliance with the Board’s guidelines.
The Board said the move is aimed at maintaining uniformity in assessment procedures and ensuring that examination rules are applied consistently across all affiliated institutions.
