PERNEM: A complaint was lodged on October 20, 2026, at 7:46 pm by a 43-year-old woman from Tuem, Pernem, alleging that a teacher at Harmal Panchakroshi Higher Secondary School and Professional Studies, Harmal, slapped her 14-year-old minor son over a notebook-related issue, causing him injuries.
According to the complaint, the alleged incident involving teacher Pooja Arun Bhankar took place between April 7 and October 19, 2026, during the period mentioned in the complaint, between 1 pm and 1.45 pm.
The complainant further alleged that after she raised the issue of the teacher’s alleged negligence in the school’s WhatsApp group, she was called to the school.
There, six members of the teaching staff allegedly acted with common intention and wrongfully confined her in the school’s control room by latching the door from both sides.
The accused named in the complaint are Pooja Arun Bhankar, Prasad Shetgaonkar, Madhavi Kumhar, Sonali Subhaji, Ankita and Sahil, all reportedly teaching staff at the institution.
The complainant also alleged that Madhavi Kumhar attempted to assault her physically and abused her during the incident.
Further investigation is in progress. PSI Abhishek Chodankar of Mandrem Police Station is the investigating officer.
