PONDA: In a major accident, three cattle died, Six seriously critically injured after an unknown vehicle dashed them on Curti Khandepar Highway.
A locals Viraj Sapre, Nikhil Desai, who launched rescue operations to save the injured cattle, said people demand cattle pounds in every taluka.
The stray cattle sitting on the road either die or cause the death of motorists, especially bike riders.
In the absence of Gaushala, the stray cattle are left to die on the road in accidents.
It was a heart-breaking scene on Curti Highway after commuters saw a herd of stray cattle were found crying after they were dashed by vehicle and left with no timely help; three died at the spot.
The accident occurred at 4 am the early morning while the cattle got medical aid from the animal rescue squad at around 9.30 am.
Local Viraj said the highway is in the dark as Street lights are not working.
According to an eye witness, the accident occurred at 4 am today when an unknown vehicle dashed and dragged a herd of cattle resting on the road; while the three died on the spot, six were injured, including four received grievous body injuries.
They were rescued by locals Viraj Sapre, Nikhil Desai and other locals with the help of a veterinary doctor and later Sequerim Gashala for further treatment.
