Vidya Prabodhini College, Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, DMC, Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Quepem, Don Bosco College, Panjim and St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa scored wins in the Goa University Inter Collegiate Football Championship 2024-25 for Women, at Goa University Ground.
In the opening match of the day held at Goa University Ground, Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer and Management, Porvorim triumphed over VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao in a sudden death tiebreaker, concluding with a score of 4-3 after the match ended in a 1-1 draw in a stipulated time.
The initial goal was netted by Tanvi Khedekar for Vidya Prabodhini in the 3rd minute, followed by Numma Subba scoring for Shree Damodar in the 20th minute. During the tiebreaker, goals were successfully converted by Tanvi Khedekar, Ashreen Fernandes, Riya Folkar, and Rajlaxmi Arondekar for Vidya Prabodhini, while Tamanna Shaikh, Janice Craz, and Riya Gomes scored for Shree Damodar College.
In the second match, Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim achieved a resounding victory over Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim, with a final score of 7-0. The first half concluded with a score of 5-0, initiated by Ms. Swellen Fernandes, who netted the opening goal in the 7th minute. Ms. Aniela Barretto then contributed significantly by scoring four goals in the 9th, 12th, 20th, and 23rd minutes.
In the second half, Ms. Swellen Fernandes further solidified the team’s triumph by adding two more goals in the 28th and 32nd minutes.
In the third match, Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre from Assagao triumphed over Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts & Commerce, Pernem by establishing a commanding lead in the first half with a score of 3-0. During the second half, the Government College of Pernem managed to defend effectively, ensuring that the final score remained 3-0. All three goals were scored by Ms. Bhumika Gawander in the 6th, 13th, and 18th minutes of the match.
At Rosary College Ground
The first match of the day at the Rosary ground, Navelim Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Quepem achieved a commendable victory against Dempo Charities Trust’s Srinivasa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce & Economics, Cujira, Bambolim, with a final score of 5-0. The team dominated the game, leading 3-0 at halftime and adding 2 more goals in the second half. The scoring commenced with Ms. Velish Azavedo netting the first goal in the 3rd minute, followed by Ms. Sana Arilikatti’s goal in the 6th minute. Ms. Siya Naik contributed the third goal in the 10th minute, while Ms. Andrea Monteiro scored the fourth in the 42nd minute. Finally, Kanuksha Rekdo sealed the match with the fifth goal in the 55th minute.
In the second match, Don Bosco College, Panjim triumphed over Carmel College of Arts, Science & Commerce for Women, Nuvem, concluding with a final score of 3-1. The first half saw both teams performing on par, resulting in a tied score of 1-1. Rezella Cia Almeida netted the opening goal for Carmel College just one minute into the match, while Blessica Rodrigues equalized for Don Bosco in the fourth minute. The second half was dominated by Don Bosco College, which secured victory by scoring two additional goals, both attributed to Ms. Kren Estrocio in the 46th and 50th minutes of play.
In the third match, at St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa achieved a decisive victory over Cuncolim Educational Society’s College of Arts & Commerce, Cuncolim, with a final score of 7-0.
During the first half, St. Xavier’s College exhibited remarkable dominance, securing a lead with five goals. The goals were scored by Leadra Fernandes in the 3rd minute, Simran Narvekar in the 6th minute, Valanky Desouza in the 16th minute, Tanvi Parulekar in the 23rd minute, and Sujata Naik in the 27th minute.
In the second half, St. Xavier’s maintained their superiority, adding two more goals to their tally: the first by Pushpa Parab in the 39th minute and the final goal by Annvia Pereira in the 45th minute.
