PANAJI: Porvorim Police have registered an offence against representatives of M/s Techton Buildcons Pvt Ltd following a complaint alleging that non-payment of around ₹45 lakh owed to contractor Banti Prasad caused severe financial hardship and mental stress, eventually leading to his death.
According to a complaint filed by Prasad’s brother Virendra Prasad on August 17, 2026, Banti Prasad had been engaged by the company to carry out structural repairs and renovation work at Kala Academy, Panaji. The work was allegedly undertaken on the instructions of company representatives Ashish Vadgama and Tousif.
The complaint alleges that despite completing the assigned work satisfactorily, Prasad did not receive legitimate payments amounting to around ₹45 lakh. The continued non-payment allegedly resulted in financial difficulties, mental stress and emotional trauma.
Prasad was later found dead at Hotel Majestic, Porvorim, on June 30, 2026.
Based on the complaint, police have registered an offence alleging abetment of death against the accused persons. PSI Mandar Parab is investigating the case.
