PANAJI: A total of 18 senior Police Inspectors have moved Bombay High Court at Goa challenging amendment to the Goa Police Services Rules, that had made direct recruitment for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP).
The petitioners have challenged the first amendment in Goa Police Services Rules notified on December 12, 2011 making rule of ‘direct recruitment’ for the post of DySP.
The petitioners have contend that the procedure adopted for promoting Police Inspectors to DySP by Departmental Promotional Committee headed by the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) is illegal and amounts to contempt of Supreme Court’s direction.
The power of promotion from PI to DySP should be with Police Establishment Board headed by DGP, they contended further.
