New Delhi: Several schools in Delhi were placed under emergency security checks on Monday morning after receiving bomb threats through email. The first alert reached authorities at around 8:33 am, prompting an immediate response from the Delhi Fire Service, local police teams and bomb disposal units. Safety drills were activated and campuses were searched thoroughly as a precaution.
At least nine educational institutions across different parts of the city were identified as recipients of the threatening messages. The schools included Loreto Convent in Delhi Cantonment, Cambridge School in Srinivaspuri, Venkateshwar School in Rohini, CM School in Rohini, Bal Bharati School in Rohini, Cambridge School in New Friends Colony, The Indian School in Sadiq Nagar and DTA School in the INA area. Officials said reports of similar emails reaching more schools were also being examined.
The message sent to the institutions contained provocative and disturbing language. It claimed that Delhi would be turned into Khalistan and made references to Afzal Guru. The email also mentioned an alleged plan of an explosion at Parliament on February 13 at 1:11 pm, creating further concern among security agencies.
Parents and teachers were informed about the situation and many schools asked students to remain at home until clearance was given. Those already present on campuses were moved to safe areas while search operations were carried out. Fire tenders and ambulances were stationed outside several institutions as part of the emergency protocol.
Authorities stated that all necessary measures were being taken to ensure the safety of children and staff members. Cyber experts have begun tracing the origin of the emails to identify those responsible for spreading panic. Investigators are also studying whether the threats are part of a coordinated attempt to disrupt public order.
Security has been heightened around sensitive locations in the capital following the incident. Police appealed to citizens not to believe rumours and assured that updates would be shared after verification. The situation remains under close watch as agencies continue their investigation into the source and intent behind the alarming messages.
