ARPORA: In one of the deadliest accidents in recent times in Goa, three Hyderbad tourists were killed after a speeding car hit them near Russian Club, at Arpora.
Onlookers said the trio were sitting in their XUV700 car bearing no. TS-06-EZ-1816.
Police said the three were crossing the road to sit in the car to proceed towards Calangute when one red-coloured Polo car bearing no. GA-03-Z-8001 which was proceeding in high speed from Anjuna side to Calangute side gave dash to three tourists who were about to sit in their car.
The Polo car along with its driver went into the nullah on the left-hand side of the road causing serious injuries to the tourist and the driver of the Polo car.
Immediately the injured were shifted to District Hospital Mapusa along with the driver of the Polo car wherein the tourists namely Mahesh Sharma r/o Nasik Maharashtra, Dilipkumar Bang r/o Hyderabad, Manojkumar Soni r/o Hyderabad were declared dead at District Hospital Mapusa.
The driver of the Polo car Anton Bychkov, age 27 yrs, a Russian National is currently undergoing medical treatment at GMC Bambolim who is also seriously injured.
The statements of the survivor who is the driver and friend of the tourist have been recorded.
The post-mortem is being conducted on the deceased at GMC Bambolim.
Legal action will be taken as per law against the accused driver, said DySP Jivba Dalvi.
