PANAJI: Meeting of Mission political Reservation for ST of Goa was held on Saturday.
Rupesh Velip, General Secretary – Mission political Reservation for ST of Goa said that the meeting was convened since the government failed to press for demand for reservation.
“As the Goa government has failed to press a demand for political reservation for STs in the state assembly before Government of India and Election Commission of India, the Mission political reservation for STs in Goa, an umbrella body of 16 tribal organizations has decided to hold awareness meetings for boycotting Lok Sabha elections,” it said.
He said the first meeting will be held in Sankhali, a constituency of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
“It also resolved to pass resolutions in gram sabhas of village panchayats. Mission political reservation also resolved to firm on boycotting Lok Sabha elections if notification reserving seats for STs in Goa is not issued before code of conduct for parliamentary polls,” he said.
