New Delhi: In a shocking development, Sonam Raghuvanshi, a 25-year-old woman from Indore, has been arrested in connection with the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. The couple had been missing since May 23, 2025, and Raja’s decomposed body was discovered on June 2 near the Wei Sawdong Falls in East Khasi Hills.
Sonam surrendered to the police on June 8 at the Nandganj police station in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, under mounting pressure, according to Meghalaya Police. She is now in custody and will be transported to Meghalaya for further legal proceedings
The investigation has revealed that Sonam allegedly hired contract killers to murder her husband. Three men have been arrested in connection with the crime, and they have reportedly confessed to the murder and implicated Sonam as the mastermind .
Authorities suspect a romantic motive behind the murder, pointing to Sonam’s alleged affair with Raj Kushwaha, a former employee at her father’s mica factory. Raja’s brother has claimed that Sonam was in frequent contact with Raj, suggesting a possible motive for the crime .
Sonam’s family has denied the allegations, asserting her innocence and accusing the Meghalaya Police of fabricating the case. They have demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the matter.
The case has garnered widespread attention, highlighting the complexities of relationships and the potential for betrayal even within the closest bonds.
