PANAJI: As police fails to crack murder mystery of 19-year old girl, whose semi-nude body was at Calangute beach last month, the Congress party has demanded that government should make public the investigation progress of the case
“The father of that unfortunate girl is running from pillar to post and begging for justice for his daughter. We had heard from a senior leader from the Government saying that before twelfth day rituals of late Siddhi Naik, the mystery of her death will be solved. Unfortunately even after one month, people of Goa are waiting to know the truth,” said Chodankar
He further said that Congress Party purposely avoided to make any statement on the investigations of the said case in last one month with as we believe that such issues should not be politicized.
“Our Congress Governments in the past have always given free hand to the investigation agencies . We also believe that Police can solve most difficult mysteries and they have done it in the past,” he said
He said that Chief Minister made statement that he himself is monitoring investigation and it is going in right direction. This time we decided to believe in him as he himself is a father of a daughter and at least on this issue he will not tell lies.
“There is no official statement from Government on the said case till date. What we have read from media reports is that initially there were attempts made to blame the family by terming the death as suicide case. Incidentally, the father of the girl has now officially lodged complain that his daughter is murdered,” the Congress said
After the said complaint, the blame game has begun between police and doctors on a point as to who should decide whether it was a “murder” or “suicide”.
Girish further appeals to the Chief Minister to make public the status of investigation and where it is heading. We also urge everyone not to victimize the family of Siddhi Naik and stop doing their character assassination. It is unfortunate that names of minor girls from her family were made public going against the law.
“We support suggestion made by BJP President that if require case may be transferred to CBI,” he said
We demand to the DGP to take cognizance of complaint lodged by grieved father and register offence of murder against unknown persons. If police avoids registering the case, Congress Party will provide all legal support to the father of late Siddhi Naik to seek justice from the Courts.
