PANAJI: Smart City MD and CEO today said that inquiry into the Mala fatal accident is on and report is awaited.
IPSCDL CEO and MD Sanjit Rodrigues was speaking to reporters in the city.
“Inquiry is on, report will come, Smart City has also received GHRC notice on accident at Mala and we will reply to that,” said Rodrigues.
He further safety measures have also increased at various smart city work sites.
A 21-year-old B.Com student, Ayush Halarnkar, lost his life when his motorcycle plunged into a trench dug for sewerage work under the Panaji Smart City Project, according to various media reports.
Ayush, a second-year student at Dhempe College of Arts and Science, was riding his Royal Enfield in the early hours of Monday, heading to meet a friend in Mala.
In response to these allegations, an official involved with the Smart City Project defended the safety measures, asserting that the area had been properly barricaded.
The official also suggested that Ayush may have been speeding, thereby implying the fault lay with the motorcyclist and not the project’s safety standards.
