PONDA: Ponda Police have registered a case following a complaint by Auduth Raikar, alleging that he was cheated of ₹26.50 lakh by five persons who allegedly promised to arrange ₹10 crore in finance for the expansion of his business.
According to the complaint, the alleged fraud took place between March 28 and June 10, 2026, at TNK, Ponda. The accused have been identified as Shweta Undare of Navi Mumbai, Naresh Ahire of Ahire Infra Ventures Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Navi Mumbai, Bajarang Mohite of Raigad, and Saurabh Tikam and Nilesh Patil, both from Mumbai.
The complainant alleged that Undare introduced him to Ahire, claiming him to be her brother, and asked him to pay ₹1.50 lakh towards visit and verification charges. The amount was allegedly transferred through NEFT from the account of Raikar Jewellers to the account of the first accused.
The complainant further alleged that Mohite, Tikam and Patil subsequently visited his jewellery showroom in Ponda, inspected business documents and carried out verification.
According to the complaint, Undare later allegedly demanded ₹25 lakh for completing the proposed loan process, assuring that the amount would be refunded after the ₹10 crore finance was disbursed. The complainant allegedly arranged and paid the amount to the first and second accused.
The complainant also alleged that Undare and Ahire obtained signed blank cheques belonging to him, his family members and introducers, along with promissory notes and an agreement.
Despite allegedly receiving a total of ₹26.50 lakh and the signed documents, the accused allegedly failed to provide the promised ₹10 crore finance. When the complainant sought a refund and return of the signed documents, the accused allegedly threatened him with consequences, including damage to his business and reputation.
Ponda Police are investigating the alleged cheating. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Rajasekhar Reddy of Ponda Police Station.
