MARGAO: SGPDA today has decided to shut operations of wholesale fish market to facilitate construction of new market complex phase 2.
The SGPDA is considering to shift the current market to Verna IDC.
“SGPDA will have to halt operations of wholesale fish market to hand over the land to GSIDC for 2nd phase construction,” said SGPDA Chairman Daji Salkar.
He further said that they are planning to shift the market activities to Verna IDC and have asked GSIDC to complete the market within 6 months.
“There is no better place than Verna IDC for this shiting for market temporary” he added.
Salkar said that SGPDA has to vacate the SGPDA wholesale fish market from the now existing or operating site and stop fish selling activity.
“GSIDC has asked SGPDA to hand over the area for the second phase or the third shed to be constructed” he added.
High Court’s intervention had seemed to have finally got the authorities, including the SGDPA and the Margao Municipal Council to put in place the waste management system inside the market and outside.
