VASCO: Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Thursday morning launched the works of hot mixing the internal road in an around area under ward number 15.
The works were launched in the presence of ward Councillor Priya Raut, Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson Girish Borkar and other Councillors.
Speaking to the media later, Vasco MLA said that the proposals for hot mixing of roads had been placed before the government but were sanctioned in phases.
“We had place proposals as per priorities and we first took up hot mixing of road in New Vaddem which had not been attended to for the last 15 years followed by the tarring of road at the kadamba bus stand. I believe by the end of this year we will hot mix almost all the major and internal roads with the help and support of the government,” he said.
There is a feast happening in this area and the roads are damaged, which is why we decided to take up the works on this roads and the area around the Bhovteshwar Temple and surrounding areas upto Kharewada area, said Salkar.
“There is also and issue regarding the electrical transformer in the area and we and very soon the transformer will be shifted to a different location. We are also taking up the works on the sewerage issue in this ward because many chambers have been left abandoned by the previous contractor we have now taken the matter up the government and the geo-mapping has been done of all the chambers,” he said.
However, he saod, we are facing difficulties of getting land to set up sewage pumping stations. If the people in this area come forward and give us some land we will immediately set up pumping stations and get sewage lines connected in the entire ward. As of now we have taken pieces of land from some people and are trying to set up a pumping station to resolve the sewage issue of this ward.
“I want to mention that this problems are not recent and have been left unattended over the past so many years but as the MLA I am trying to solve the problem as it comes slowly but surely,” said Salkar.
