Margao: “Welcome order by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India on Disclosure of Electoral Bonds by 15th March 2024. In Democracy, People are the Masters & they have the Right to Know. Congress Government enacted the Right to Information Act-2005 empowering Citizens to excercise their Fundamental Right,” stated Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.
Reacting to the Order of the Supreme Court of India directing the State Bank of India(SBI) to provide all details of Electoral Bonds within Business Hours of 12th March 2024 and instructing Election Commission of India(ECI) to upload the information on its Website by 15th March 2024, Yuri Alemao claimed that BJP lacks transperancy.
Supreme Court has taken a tough stand on the SBI’s application for extension of time till 30thbJune 2024 to disclose details about Donors of Electoral Bonds as well as the Political Parties which redeemed these Electoral Bonds, stated Yuri Alemao.
It is important to note that the Supreme Court has dismissed the application of the SBI, pointing out that the Data that the Supreme Court had asked them to give is already available with the SBI as per their own Affidavit. How can Government now expect People to trust SBI after the observations of the Supreme Court? questioned Yuri Alemao.
BJP Government destroyed each and every Institution in the Country in last ten years. Today, it is clear that BJP Government is also interfering in Banks. This is alarmingly dangerous, said Yuri Alemao.
“I once again humbly appeal to Goans to understand the ulterior motives of the BJP and teach them a lesson in upcoming Loksabha Elections. We need to protect Constitution and Democracy from the clutches of Dictators,” stated Yuri Alemao.
