MARGAO: Additional Collector-II, South Goa, Ramesh Gaonkar chaired the 7th monthly meeting of the District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM), in the presence of Member Secretary Narayan S. Tirvenkar.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Health, Forest, Information Technology, Panchayats, Water Resources and Agriculture departments, along with representatives from Block Development Offices.
The committee reviewed the progress of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) 2.0. The Directorate of Panchayats informed that certain land-related and local public issues at some locations are being resolved in coordination with the concerned Village Panchayats to facilitate the timely completion of pending works.
Progress on Field Test Kit training for two women members for the constitution of Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSCs) under the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) was also reviewed. Officials informed the meeting that the training has commenced across South Goa.
The meeting also discussed pending activities related to Jal Seva Aankalan. Village Panchayat Secretaries were directed to conduct the required Gram Sabha meetings and upload the necessary information on the Central Government portal within the stipulated timeline.
The Department of Drinking Water (DDW) was instructed to expedite the geo-tagging process, while the committee noted that village-wise data from the Directorate of Panchayats is still awaited.
All concerned officials were directed to ensure timely compliance with the instructions issued and expedite pending activities under the respective programmes, with emphasis on coordinated action and adherence to prescribed timelines.
